HEART APPEAL

Our main fundraising event of the year is the annual Heart Appeal in the run-up to NHS Day, the NHS birthday - distributing Hearts across the country to celebrate our NHS on the NHS birthday, whilst raising funds to support all of the brave, compassionate and hard-working people who make up our NHS.

The proceeds from our fundraising activities in celebration of the NHS birthday - NHS Day - are committed to delivering well-being support to NHS staff, to help them do all that they do, for all of us.

Proceeds from our fundraising activities do not supplement government funding of the health service.

We support the millions of people who are our NHS.

The HEART Appeal Funding goals

Supporting NHS staff physical and mental health and well-being

Uplifting NHS staff confidence and morale

Fostering NHS staff solidarity

Rewarding NHS staff for their commitment and integrity

The tremendous support of the public, and the support from small and large private and public organisations that NHS staff received in combating the Coronavirus pandemic was inspiring. Without this support, the human demands of fighting the pandemic would have been overwhelming. Access to meals, places to rest, people to talk to and simple things that make a world of difference.

These physically and emotionally challenging conditions are not limited to the Coronavirus pandemic, they are part of caring, and are struggles that millions of NHS staff face, in fighting for our lives, everyday. They won't go away. So through the HEART Appeal, part of NHS Day, celebrating the NHS birthday, we want to make sure that we are always here to support them.

This year, on the NHS Birthday - NHS Day - there is a focus on supporting the mental well-being of NHS staff who have been directly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. For a start, we want to ensure that all staff have access to the emotional support they need during and after this crisis.
